Carolyn Buttolph, Resident, Goodwin House Baileys Crossroads

About ten years ago, my older sister died.  Her death motivated me to investigate continuing care facilities.  My inquiries led to GHBC which was just then starting construction of the Pointe.  It did not take me long to make a decision.  I placed a down payment – and about two years later I moved into the Pointe when it opened.  I soon joined the BOM-COM and the Finance Committee.  Later, I became involved with other committees:  Community Services, Resident Services, and the Employee Gift Fund.  I served on the Resident Council.  I joined VaCCRA.  Just recently, I accepted a role with CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities).  Yes, my life is full, and I am overjoyed to be a resident of GHBC.  After all, I didn’t move to Goodwin House to stagnate and die.  I came to grow and live.  I would be here tonight except that I just spent the day testing vision and distributing reading glasses for the Lions Club!  Enjoy the celebration!
